Tree reports for Watercare

For example, we were commissioned by Watercare to compile a tree report that assessed the proposed works of a wastewater capacity upgrade project against the trees in the area. The tree report needed to detail what the affects might be and what consents were required.

This tree report entailed our arborist doing an onsite data collection, mapping and naming each tree in the area by species, height, dimension, structure form and health, ownership, and proposed works. This was all loaded onto our software.

Then we assessed the proposed works in relation to the trees and whether they could be done within permitted standards or if they required extra consents.

We supplied a tree report detailing all the necessary data as well as outlining the tree rules, the state of the trees, and our recommendations on how to proceed. This report then allowed the project managers to apply for appropriate TOAs and Resource Consents (which we also helped with) and now the project is being approved for delivery. We also provided the monitoring support for construction around certain trees.

Due to our extensive experience with these kinds of reports and jobs, we can help beyond just technical data capture. Our expert team can look beyond the data and be practical about what the hold-ups or risks could be and what potential solutions could be, skipping the client ahead one or more steps by problem solving on-site and before consent.

Nothing makes us happier than being able to help clients work out the right solutions, such as when it’s right to work in a root zone, when it’s best to get a tree removed or when to try to tweak the proposed plan and avoid the area all together. After decades of working in this area, we know what kinds of things council will and won’t approve so we can help by looking for bottlenecks or re-routes before we hit them to keep the project progressing.
