Recently, we worked with a private developer working in an intensification area in Auckland. He has two sites and was proposing to build six apartments on them. The developer needed the driveway alignments to change for this proposed build, however the construction of these new driveways overlapped within the root zone of trees located in the council road reserve. This is why he needed to get Tree Owner Approval (TOA).
This is the type of job we do regularly and are really efficient at because we do so many of them! Our team have worked closely with council for many years, so we know exactly what it is they need and how they like it presented for a better chance of signoff.
We worked with the developer to modify their driveway design slightly to ensure it would be both feasible for him and viable for the council to approve.
We used our data software collection app to compile an accurate tree position, tree dimensions and the percentage of encroachment to demonstrate that it met TOA requirements. We wrote a supporting report to council with the relevant data and successfully got permission for our client to go ahead, under the requirement of tree monitoring during construction and providing a final memo to confirm it met the conditions.
