At the start of 2024, Auckland Council celebrated the completion of their upgrade of Myers Park, turning it from an uninviting underpass carpark into a beautiful public space, which includes boardwalks and fully interactive art works.
The central city project was extensive and included new drainage infrastructure, retaining wall work, pathways and boardwalks. Our role was to monitor the 15 mature trees during the works, meaning an Arborlab team member was on site in the park when physical works were happening and carried out follow-up checks on a regular basis.
Tree monitoring requires keeping an eye on the root system and overall health of the tree, making sure the activities aren’t having an adverse effect on the tree. The tree monitoring was successful, with no casualties.
